Artist Profile
Monsta Mitch

Hailing from Hempstead/Uniondale, in 'Money' Long Island, NY, Monsta Mitch is a highly seasoned and well versed artist/actor with plenty years under his belt in both the streets and the industry. His life journey has taken him from making a name for himself thru his teens as an star athlete, to surviving the trenches of the streets and prison as an active gang member, to making his rounds throughout industry circles as an upcoming songwriter & artist, to ultimately gaining significant notoriety from his role as local stick up kid, 'Tru Street', in the prominent YouTube semi-scripted urban web series, The Professional Chiller. Yet after several jumpstarts and setbacks, whether thru transgressions in the streets and resulting beefs & incarcerations, past fallouts with previous partners or stalled label situations that never fully materialized, Mitch has now taken his career into his own hands with the launch of his RNS Global Music imprint. This renewed focus and entrepreneurial vision sparked a reconnection with his day one comrade, CEO Brown of the BedStuy-Brooklyn based, Brown Bag Ent. Brown was the very first person to truly believe in and support Mitch's musical talents. Together they've shared both success and struggle thru the streets, and lost lives & time due to crime. But still in all, they stood tall and survived the grind, hence, the motto, RI$E-N-$HINE! With CEO Brown back by his side and with his own reignited hunger, its time for Monsta Mitch to really eat off feasting on these beats. So RNS/BBE gone give what the streets what they need... persistent heat, consistent with authenticity. Mitch's artistic range and versatility allows him to swiftly switch lanes from spitting street tales that pay homage to those soldiers in the field, to catering to females with his slick gift of gab, and G'd up swag. Using his real life experiences of pain & pleasure as inspiration to his music, Mitch can construct whole verses and melodies, both off the top of his head and thru the formal written process. Either way, no matter the method of creating, the outcome is always undeniable. Since returning to the lab in 2021, Mitch has been cooking nonstop as he gears up to release new material in 2022.
Biography & Background
Jeffery Mitchell Green, was born in Hempstead, Long Island, the urban epicenter of Nassau County, and the closest resemblance to life within the boros of NYC. Later moving to the neighboring township of Uniondale, he was raised by his mom & stepdad along with several siblings. Although he was slightly removed from the trenches so to speak, Mitch was still drawn to the same influences and limited options as most inner-city children: sports, drugs and entertainment. His earliest passion was sports, but more specifically his first love was basketball. Being the grandson of retired NBA player, 'Jumping' Johnny Green of Michigan State/NY Knicks fame, athleticism was already in his blood. So it was only right he tapped into his natural gifts at an early age. By the time he reached high school, Jeff, as he was mostly know back then, developed into a prime time player for his school and local AAU teams. Additionally, inspired by his older 1st cousin Keith Murray, a Long Island rap legend and member of the iconic Def Sqaud rap crew, Jeff's earliest foray into hip hop was in his early teens with a short lived rap group he had started with friends,
However, it was during his late teens that Jeff began to be immersed in the growing local gang culture. So as Jeff's confidence grew to match his athletic abilities, and his bold trash talk game built his rep on the court; his thorough hand skills, toughness off the court, and growing rap talent helped to establish his name in the streets and status among the gang. Mitch, as he was affectionately known amongst his set, was falling more in line with the streets & brotherhood with his homies, engaging in more and more gang activity. Nonetheless, Jeff would still finish high school and go on to accept a basketball scholarship to attend college in Poughkeepsie, NY. But his dual lifestyle proved to be a conflict of interest while Mitch was enrolled at the state university. It was there upstate where Mitch would initially meet the Brooklyn-bred CEO Brown, who was in & out of town on his own money mission.
The two of them quickly formed a bond around their New York City roots, hustler ambitions and musical aspirations, so together they turned it up, grinding in the streets trying to finance the dream. Mitch would eventually find himself in trouble with the law, getting dropped from his scholarship, and expelled from school, leaving him with just the streets and his musical talents to fall back on. Permanently transplanted upstate, on his own & away from home, the only option now was to get it off the muscle, from the hustle. Believing in his craft and with Brown's encouragement, Mitch began to take the music more serious. As they were laying the foundation for Brown Bag Entertainment and building up their local buzz upstate thru his early mixtapes and videos, Mitch got jammed up in another case that landed him a three year prison sentence, further delaying his music career. He continued to develop his freestyle and songwriting skills while incarcerated becoming one of the more recognized spittas in the jail, often engaing in verbal sparring sessions with other MC's in the yard. Upon his release, Mitch got straight to it again off the hustle and the muscle, while renewing the pursuit in his musical career.
Thru forged relationships while in prison, Mitch was connected to Queensbridge OG, Lake The Kid, who had just been named President, of the also recently released from prison, infamous NY rapper Shyne's, freshly minted & Def Jam backed label, Gangland Records. Mitch was to be a developing artist on the label while contributing to writing for Shyne and other artists on the label. Meanwhile, he also served as Lake's chief lieutenant in the streets. He stayed under the wing of the Gangland regime for a few years, but ultimately the label never truly took off, thus, he never got the opportunity to release any music while there. Mitch remained in lockstep with Lake for a few more years, as he attempted to launch a Death Row East imprint and his own Lake Ent. Neither label flourished and whatever opportunities that would have emerged from them slowly faded away, as did Mitch's alignment with Lake.
The next couple of years found Mitch maintaining his grind in the streets while trekking thru the industry maze with no specific direction or direct label affiliations. He continued to write and release music via mixtapes, and would eventually end up with the independent Houston based label, Black House Music Group, founded by the Harlem born & bred entrepreneur, Norm 'Prez' Simmons. Mitch had known Prez for years already, as both were avid athletes in their younger years often competing in citywide tournaments. Mitch ran around Houston for about year with Prez, carrying on his familiar dual role of artist/lieutenant, although he never released any music there either. Unfortunately, Mitch would return to NY unsatisfied still looking for his opportunity to $HINE.
Nonetheless, while being affiliated with Gangland Records, then Black House Music Group, and by making his rounds in & about the industry, Mitch had built strong relationships and made other connections that opened a door for him to be a songwriter while still working to establish his own artistry. He began working with James R., an artist from Love & Hip Hop NY season 8, and was running within his camp during his brief tenure on the show. In addition to songwriting, Mitch basically provided James R. the necessary 'street element' to garner the requisite credibility needed to achieve a level of acceptance and success in the rap game. But always a team player and loyal soldier, Mitch was cool playing his position in the background until the time was right for him to do his own thing. Consequently, after not feeling the proper appreciation/compensation, nor the adequate hunger/dedication to the grind/craft, Mitch removed himself from that situation to strictly focus on his own career as an artist.
The next situation Mitch found himself in was with industry insider Arliss Michaels. He and Arliss had met some years prior and kept in touch. So as Arliss was gearing to launch his semi-scripted YouTube series, The Professional Chiller, he offered Mitch an opportunity to play one of the main characters, 'Tru Street', a local stick up kid. The series ran for 2 seasons/25 episodes, and averaged more than 100k+ views per episode, helping Mitch gain significant YouTube notoriety and generate more interest in his solo artistry. While starring on the web series, Mitch released new music via SoundCloud, and released a couple videos at the end of a few episodes. After two full seasons via YouTube, the web series was canceled due to not being able to secure any larger financial backing or adequate distribution. During this time Mitch also released the collaborative mixtape, 9 to the $HINE, along with his G-$HINE homie, D-God. The project was well received locally in Hempstead/Uniondale/Roosevelt/Freeport and further stamped Monsta Mitch as one of the best artist emerging from Long Island.
Consequently, due to some misunderstandings on dealings in the streets, Mitch would fall out of favor with both Arliss and several members within the gang. The ensuing drama lead to real life beef, descension among the set and even an attempt on his life. After surviving the attack, fully recovering and regrouping, Mitch devised a strategy to release periodic freestyles via his Instagram live to keep his buzz up. These freestyles would always garner significant support and positive feedback from his audience solidifying his belief in self and the potential in his artistry. No longer looking to align himself with any other artist/label/movement, Mitch was intent on establishing his own label and brand, RNS Global. He reached back out to CEO Brown who was, as always, on board with his never wavering support. With their renewed partnership and forever strong friendship, they plan to finish the rap journey they started over 20 years ago.
